pop culture: the visual album

You can call me Queen B.

Unless you’ve lived under a rock, the latest news on pop culture have taken a life on its own. No publicity, no “coming soon” or any other kind of high paid anticipation, blah blah blah. You know that feeling where an artist would give wayyy too many teases and you think, OMG just release it already!?! Well, I couldn’t have been happier to know that the one and only Queen B, Beyonce has taken the road less traveled.

*For those who know me, know that I have little to no interest in the North American “pop culture” fanatics. Seriously, I was probably one of the few who had no care for Yezus or whatever it was called. BUT…after hearing the reason and thought behind Beyonce’s album and concept, I started to spark a little interest in this North American demographic industry again.*

Everything that she said in the video above, I couldn’t have agreed with her any more or any less! It’s EXACTLY on-point to what I’ve said all this time and one of the reasons why I practically lost all interest in supporting and showing interest in the North American pop culture.

Accompanying the release of her self-titled album, Beyonce also released :30 second teasers for all the 14 songs at once without any prior promotional productions to hype up the anticipation.

After going through all her :30 second previews for 14 songs, I can seriously admit that I don’t feel horrible for purchasing an album via iTunes (click here if you want to be directed to buy for $15.99). *If you’re asking why would I feel horrible for supporting artists? I self diagnosed myself to have Music A.D.D basically. On rare occasions, I would listen to an entire album, let alone I would take the time to listen ALL the way through an entire song. The last time I actually did anything like this for a North American artist was for Cory Lee and ISH. phew thank goodness they make some great music!*

Even though this is Beyonce we’re talking about, like SO many (and based on my taste), it’s safe to say that I’m loving the album, minus a few odd songs here and there *just not my taste* – but nonetheless, I can actually say that I had the songs played until the end! From 14 songs, here are my TOP FOUR FAVORITES that will make it into my “ENGLISH SONGS” playlist rotation:

Have you heard it? Have you purchased it? What do YOU think?
